<aside> 📝 Summary
Before my career transition, I worked in MUJI Japan for around 6 years in 3 different departments (retail management, marketing and Ecommerce). I’m a fast and proactive learner who adapts quickly to new environments. I enjoy working with teams and communicating directly with end-users. I have worked on or led projects that required coordination between multiple stakeholders and some across multiple countries and languages. For more details of my prior work experience, check out my Linkedin.

I managed a team of 10 staff and supported the store manager with all aspects of operation at the store, including but not limited to hiring, training, inventory, sales, scheduling etc.. I am also experienced with addressing customer complaints that have been escalated to the management level. It is here where I learned I really enjoy talking to customers and solving their problems.
I worked with designers, both in-house and from agencies, simultaneously managing multiple projects of various scale, ensuring that they deliver on branding, time and costs. Often times, I admired the designers and wanted to be on the other side, doing creative work. It was at this time, the desire to become a designer, a dream I always had, was awakened in me.
I performed data analysis to optimize inventory planning. Getting a peak at the inner workings of a giant online business, I saw that improving User Experience was an important issue that always came up. This inspired me to make the decision to change my career to do something I’ve always wanted to do, design, but now I have a direction: UX Design.
I quit my job and spent a few months self learning through online courses and getting feedback from my mentor. For my portfolio, I worked on real life problems and have also done some freelance projects. I’m also studying web development (here is my codepen) mostly for fun but also to better understand the software developers I will work with in the future!
