Tokyo Aleworks (here forth TAW) is a craft beer brewery/restaurant located in Tokyo, Japan. They offer a wide selection of craft beers made in their brewery at a reasonable price along with burgers, cakes and coffee. There is a need to manage their inventory more effectively and that is where this inventory management app project comes in.

⚠️ The problem There is no formal process to track inventory and no standards for deciding when and how much extra stock to order. Staff are confused with the process and items are hard to keep track of.

🎯 The goal Design an inventory management app that will let users track inventory in real time, which will help users who need to refill and order extra stock, by notifying when stock levels are low and tracking whether more stock is coming or not.

✅ Impact The app makes users feel that inventory management is less stressful and uncertain.

One quote from 2nd usability study: “When this app gets built I will implement it into my kitchen faster than you can blink. This will really make my job so much easier.”

The app can potentially save 20% of time spent on inventory management, reduce out of stock instances and produce better inventory data for accounting purposes efficiently.

Final Mockups / Prototypes

Mockups

Because working hours can be very late and the environment a little dim, I changed the final design to a dark mode to reduce eye strain. I also used yellow as an accent color, picking up from TAW’s own accent color on their website, but also to differentiate from existing apps.
